Which film, and why it matters
Plastic packaging is a material decision before it is a design decision. The film changes how the bag feels in the hand, how much weight it carries and what the print looks like on it, and the three in regular use here behave quite differently.
- LDPE: soft and flexible, with a premium hand feel. The usual choice for boutique and fashion retail.
- HDPE: lightweight and strong, with a slight crinkle. Efficient for high-volume retail and takeout.
- MDPE: the mid-weight all-rounder, between the two on both feel and strength.
- Frosted and clear film, where the product inside is part of the presentation.
- Recyclable film, available on request.
Printing on film
Film is not paper and the printing has to account for it. The important one is white ink: on clear or dark coloured film, a logo printed without a white underbase goes muddy, so colour work is built up over white to keep it true.

Minimums, timing and pricing
Printed plastic bags run from 5,000 to 10,000 units depending on size and construction, which is the highest minimum of any product here, because film printing is only economic at volume. Garment bags are the exception at 500. Standard production is about 10 to 14 weeks, air-expedited about 5 weeks. Every job is quoted individually against size, gauge, film, print and quantity.
